It is never easy to deal with the fact that you’re not relevant anymore. Famous celebrities and athletes try to ride their waves for as long as they can but if they don’t innovate or find a way to adjust, they can lose all their clout in the blink of an eye.
Moreover, it’s kind of sad to see celebrities acting as if they’re still the icing on top of the cake when most people don’t recognize them anymore or think about them as has-beens or one-hit wonders.
So, now that most of them still have plenty of cash in their bank account but little-to-no influence in pop or sports culture, they should just call it a day and realize that they’re not famous anymore. Perhaps even pursue a different career path altogether.
25. Kendrick Perkins
Kendrick Perkins made a name for himself in the NBA for being a tough guy. He was a hard nosed defender who tried to intimidate and bully his peers with his physical presence. Stat-wise, however, he was nothing short of a glorified role player that happened to be just what a great Boston Celtics team needed on their last championship run.
Now, Perkins is firing hot takes left and right on TV and Twitter all day long. He’s confronting others and contradicting himself every night, making opinions that aren’t even based on stats or facts, and he’s starting to rub NBA fans the wrong way on social media.
24. Nicole Scherzinger
Nicole Scherzinger couldn’t hold on to The Pussycat Dolls. They broke up in 2010 and everybody thought she’d rise as their Beyoncè, but that wasn’t the case, not by a long stretch.
Scherzinger ventured in reality tv shows and won the 10th season of Dancing with the Stars. She also joined the X-Factor in the UK but was fired in 2017, and her two solo albums were a major disappointment for her fanbase.
23. 50 Cent
Curtis Jackson AKA 50 Cent has been through it all. He was one of the most famous rappers of the early 2000s, founded several companies, pursued a career in Hollywood, and filed for bankruptcy. All in about 10 years.
50 Cent lost most of his street cred when he stopped rapping. He’s a terrible actor and proven to be an even worse businessman after owing over $32 million. He continues to try and make a living in Hollywood.
22. Mike ‘The Situation’
Truth to be told, we can’t even fathom how Mike ‘The Situation’ became famous in the first place. He rose to stardom as one of the most controversial Cast Members of ‘Jersey Shore’ and has tried to ride the wave - unsuccessfully - ever since.
Mike tried to pursue a career in standup comedy but, needless to say, that didn’t pan out well at all. He’s been charged with tax evasion and has tried to make a living playing himself on more reality tv shows, but that’s not flying anymore.
Just like Mike, Snooki rose to fame for her controversial appearances in Jersey Shore. She was often seen drunk and wreaking havoc everywhere she went, and that granted her plenty of TV time and interviews afterward.
Snooki then had her own reality tv show Snooki & Jwoww, hosted WWE Raw, and even competed in Wrestlemania XXVII. She also wrote a book that, as expected, was a major flop and didn't sell many copies.
20. Dez Bryant
Dez Bryant was one of the best wide receivers in the NFL during his prime. However, he was always really full of himself and his rifts with the Dallas Cowboys’ organization forced their hand to release him after 8 seasons.
He then struggled to get another shot at making a roster after suffering a heartbreaking injury practicing with the New Orleans Saints. However, he continues to give opinions on social media as if he were a Hall of Famer and, honestly, he had just 3 great seasons.
19. Orlando Brown
Orlando Brown was one of America’s beloved personalities during his time in Disney’s That’s So Raven. Sadly, his career took a major downfall after the show was canceled as he struggled with substance abuse.
Brown has barely found any work since his issues with the police, failing to report to court, and several DUIs, and even threatening to kill a woman. He’s still trying to live out of his fame, but there’s not much fame left to live by.
18. Tim Tebow
Tim Tebow was one of the nation’s biggest sensations during his time with the Florida Gators, but he struggled to find the same success during his NFL career. He ended up out of the league after just 3 seasons as a starter with a 17–9 TD - INT ratio.
Tebow rejected multiple offers from other leagues and even refused to try out as a tight end in the NFL, as he was only going to play at quarterback. He’s finally given up on that dream, but now he’s trying to pursue a career as an MLB outfielder with the New York Mets’ farm system. C’mon, man, you’re 32. It’s not gonna happen.
Everybody would think that being Puff Daddy’s protege and significant other would guarantee success in show business, but Cassie tanked her career as an actress and didn’t fare any better as a singer.
Even she has admitted plenty of times that she has to put up a lot of work in everything she does. However, she’s still not impressing anybody. Perhaps it would be wise to go back to modeling.
16. Azealia Banks
There was a lot of hype surrounding Azealia Banks’ career. She was supposed to be the second coming of Missy Elliot, but actually, she’s been more involved in controversies and feuds than musical success.
Banks is well known for her beef with Lady Gaga, Iggy Azalea, Zayn Malik, Russell Crowe, and even Elon Musk (yeah, that doesn’t make any sense). She’s been arrested, banned from Twitter, and lost all of her endorsements. So yeah, she’s had a couple of wake-up calls, for sure.
15. Tara Reid
Tara Reid was one of America’s sweethearts during her early career. Everybody fell in love with her in American Pie, and then got to know the real party-animal she was from her time on ‘Wild On’ (later renamed Taradise).
However, it seems like Reid did a few too many jägerbombs and her once-promising career took a major downfall over the past decade or so. She’s had some minor roles in TV shows and series.
14. Hulk Hogan
Hulk Hogan was one of the biggest celebrities of the ‘80s. He was known all over the world for being one of the most charismatic and biggest entertainers in WWF (now WWE) history. Nevertheless, his best days are far behind him.
Hogan has tried to stay relevant for years by doing cameos on low budget tv shows and movies, not to mention his infamous “Hogan Knows Best” reality show. We love you, Hulk, but you’re not cool anymore.
13. Yasiel Puig
Yasiel Puig was once considered one of the best prospects in all of baseball. He had (has) all the tools to be a five-tool outfielder and a perennial MVP candidate. Sadly, his attitude issues and troublemaking nature granted him a poor reputation around the league.
He even rejected a couple of contract offers because he thought they were lowballing him but honestly, he’s not even on any contending team’s radar right now. He’s got the potential and skills but he’s unlikely to find a new team until he takes a deep look in the mirror.
12. Jeremy Lin
Jeremy Lin fought with his heart and soul for every single playing minute he got in the NBA. He was one of the best feel-good stories in ages with the ‘Linsanity’ at Madison Square Garden, but that was almost a decade ago. He’s not that guy anymore.
Honestly, we still think he’s good enough to make any NBA rotation and consider him just too good for the CBA, but he’s got to stop whining and - literally crying - about the lack of opportunities and claiming ‘the NBA gave up on you’. If it hasn’t happened yet, it’s not likely to happen just because you truly want it. They all do.
11. Tila Tequila
Tila Tequila made a name for herself for partying night in and night out. She rose to stardom in MySpace and then starred in MTV’s A Shot at Love with Tila Tequila, gaining even more recognition for her partying and shenanigans.
Surprisingly, she then found God and is now trying to use her platform to spread the word. Nonetheless, she’s also trying to talk about white supremacism, antisemitism, and overall support for Adolf Hitler, so there’s not much of a platform left to use.
10. Antonio Brown
It didn’t take Antonio Brown long to leave his blueprint in the NFL. He became one of the best wide receivers the league had seen in decades in no time and looked poised to have a Hall of Fame career for years. That’s until the Pittsburgh Steelers decided to part ways with him in 2018.
Everything went downhill for Brown since then. He forced his way out of the Oakland Raiders, was involved in a sexual assault scandal, then judged for assaulting and robbing a delivery driver on his property. Today he plays for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but continues to post all kinds of hatred-filled messages on social media.
9. Aaron Carter
Aaron Carter was never nearly half as famous as his older brother Nick. I mean, there’s no way to match the popularity of a Backstreet Boy. Still, he had his fair share of fame at age 9 for his hit ‘I Want Candy’. Things weren’t as good when he grew up, though.
Carter tried over and over to find success in the music industry, but it just didn’t work out. Moreover, his erratic personality, DUIs, and struggles with substances granted him a trip to rehab and put the last nail on his career’s coffin.
8. Katherine Heigl
Katherine Heigl had a promising acting career when she was just a teenager. It looked like everything was working out perfectly for her when she starred in Grey’s Anatomy, but her off-camera behavior granted her a terrible reputation in show business.
She’s struggled to find any significant roles due to her poor attitude. She’s even demanding to get auditions for roles she’s just not going to get because of her subpar resume and the way she mistreats everybody around her. She had it all and lost it and has no one else to blame for that but herself.
7. Shia LaBeouf
Shia LaBeouf’s career got off to a terrific start during his time at Disney’s Even Stevens. He later starred in the Transformers’ saga and looked poised for stardom. That was before he started acting out and spreading his unorthodox cosmovision.
LaBeouf should just drop his ‘woke’ attitude. People were honestly concerned about his erratic behavior. He was even arrested a couple of times and was forced to attend therapy to deal with his substance abuse and anger issues.
6. Jonathan Cheban
Jonathan Cheban has done absolutely nothing to be famous other than just being side by side with the Kardashian family 24/7 365 days a year. He’s with them wherever they go every time there’s a camera around and that was enough to grant him a lot of clout in show business, for some reason.
He’s now a food blogger and expert, although he’s not a chef, culinary expert, or even restaurant owner. He’s also a perennial presence in red carpets although he’s not an actor, producer, writer, model, or anything at all. In fact, he’s a publicist, and he’s done a hell of a job selling his product, whatever that is.
5. Hilary Duff
Hilary Duff was a massive sensation during the early 2000s. Her role as Lizzie McGuire and breakout album made her one of America’s most beloved gals. Sadly, that was 15 years ago, and she doesn’t have many things to brag about ever since.
Her music career took a downfall following her third album. Also, she’s had some lesser roles in TV shows and movies over the past couple of years.
4. Drake Bell
Drake Bell stole thousands of hearts thanks to his starring role in Nickelodeon’s Drake & Josh. He was the ultimate stud that could do it all, a Rockstar in the making, he looked poised to take Hollywood by assault. That’s until it got all to his head.
Bell has starred in several infamous disputes in social media, including transphobic remarks towards Caitlyn Jenner, a salty couple of comments about not being invited to Josh Peck’s wedding, and even a video of him stopping a show of his band because a kid was throwing something at him. He’s far off from what everybody thought he'd become.
3. Bow Wow
Bow Wow, formerly known as Lil’ Bow Wow, became a worldwide sensation after his starring role in ‘Like Mike’. Sadly, that’s literally all he did that people actually liked, as he’s had on and off acting gigs and hasn’t fared any better with his music.
People have pointed out that he’s constantly posting fake pics to pretend like he’s being mobbed by crowds of fans or traveling on luxurious private jets but he hasn’t released an album since 2009 and honestly, it didn’t sell that good either. He even tweeted in 2018 “Ima quit all this s**t. Downsize my home. Sell everything. And go to work at GameStop,” so perhaps he’s realized that his time has passed.
2. Christina Milian
Be honest here. Even you forgot about ‘AM to PM’ and ‘Dip It Low’. Well, so has most of the world. Christina Milian was once incredibly famous and looked like she could’ve been as good as Alicia Keys or Beyoncé. She was on top of the world, and people literally don’t remember her anymore.
Milian’s reality show was canceled due to poor ratings and her work as a correspondent in ‘The Voice’ went pretty much unnoticed as well. She’s very talented but hasn't released an album since 2006 or found a good role in TV or movies in ages either.
1. Aubrey O’Day
Aubrey O’Day has been fired or kicked out of pretty much every single one of her endeavors. Just like Cassie, not even Diddy with all his influence and clout could take her to the top and it seems like people flat out don’t like her. At all.
She then got to do a lot of interviews because of her infamous beef with Diddy. Other than that, she’s pretty much bounced around Hollywood and several failed reality tv shows but she’ll always be remembered just for being fired off of Danity Kane and Making the Band 3.
