Cam Newton gets real about the Patriots' true chances

New England Patriots quarterback Cam Newton was honest about the team hitting a 'turning point' after logging back-to-back wins for the first time in the season.

The New England Patriots have been one of the most disappointing teams throughout the first 11 weeks of the NFL season. Obviously, there were going to be some adjustments with Tom Brady now with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

However, after landing a fully-healthy Cam Newton and getting most of their defense back, you'd expect them to at least be in contention to win the AFC East but that hasn't been the case thus far.

Nevertheless, Bill Belichick's team at least was able to get back-to-back wins for the first time in the season after barely beating the New York Jets and then getting a big triumph over the Baltimore Ravens.

Cam Newton Says The Patriots Didn't Hit A 'Turning Point'

Then again, Cam Newton doesn't think that the team has already hit a turning point and knows that they're still far from what they must accomplish if they want to keep their 20-year dynasty alive:

“Not going to necessarily say it’s a turning point. We just want to keep getting better each and every week and I think we have been showing that, finding different ways to win, establishing our dominance in the running game, and trying to stop the run as well. Those are all keys to victory for us,” Cam said.

“As this season keeps going, we just want to keep transcending upwardly in a way that our team is getting better week by week. We have a lot of young players that have big roles for us and especially myself, learning new things in this offense and getting comfortable. All in all, we just got to keep the ball moving forward and staying focused throughout it all," he concluded.

There's still plenty of time in the season and it doesn't seem like Belichick has any intention whatsoever to bench Newton. He's a former MVP and the talent is still clearly there. Still, we wouldn't bet our money into the Patriots contending any time soon.
